MINERALS
Minerals are native elements of our earth. And human beings need these elements to ensure healthy functioning of every cell in their bodies. Minerals found in large quantities in humans, such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium are well known for their contribution to maintaining a healthy body. There are however, many minerals that are required in very small amounts, such as "trace minerals." These minerals are required for several vital functions, including enzyme activation, digestion, and absorption of other vitamins and nutrients.
It is important to have a good healthy mineral base. The body works better with toxic metals than with no metals at all. Enzymes have certain binding sites that require a metal to be present in the body for them to perform their function as a catalyst. When you are deficient in magnesium, sodium, zinc and other minerals, the body does not let go of the toxic metals very easily. Selenium and zinc are particularly important trace mineral in mercury detoxification and should be used for most people.
